The Montgomery Area Food Bank fights hunger and poverty in South Central Alabama by distributing food and other donated products to nearly 700 non-profit member agencies serving 25 counties.
Through this food network, their partnering charity organizations provide free food to low income county residents by distributing bags of groceries or on-site feeding (soup kitchen) programs.
The Food Bank system, which has been in place for more than 20 years, takes food that otherwise would have gone to waste and gets it out to people who are unable to provide adequate food for themselves and their families.
America's Second Harvest is the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization.
They are a national network of over 200 food banks and food-rescue programs that distribute donated food through 50,000 charitable agencies to hungry Americans.
America's Second Harvest distributes food to 23.3 million hungry people each year.
