Founded in 1983, Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) is the link between the national food manufacturers and local agencies that serve the hungry directly. NIFB acquires, gathers, handles, and distributes food to hungry people through a network of over 520 agency partners.
NIFB serves Boone, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Stephenson, Will, and Winnebago Counties.
The mission of NIFB is to provide nutritious food to all those in need through their own efforts and those of their nonprofit partners.

NIFB works toward its mission through these guiding principles:
1. Provide quality food with nutritional value;
