Details

Gurdwara (door or gateway to the guru) is the name for Sikh's place of worship, which is often settled as Sikh temple in the western world. Attached to each Gurdwara is a free kitchen where food, Langar, is prepared and served. Langar (Kitchen) is a term used in Sikhism for community kitchens in Gurdwara, where free food is available to all visitors without distinction of religion, caste, gender, economic or ethnic status. People sit on the floor, eat together, and the kitchen is maintained and served by Sikh community volunteers.
Fremont Gurdwara Sahib serves free food 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Free meals are always vegetarian.
