A non-profit volunteer organization, NEAR responds to the emergency needs of people in our community.

Through a cooperative effort of twelve area churches, volunteers provide emergency food relief to residents of northern Robbinsdale, Crystal, and New Hope who live between 42nd and 62nd Avenues North.

Near is a member of the second harvest food bank, the emergency foodshelf network and hunger solutions minnesota.

Who is eligible? Anyone with a true need who lives in the area served by NEAR is eligible.

Referrals are sometimes made by case workers, pastors or other organizations.

What does near charge? All NEAR services are provided free of charge by volunteers and donors.


Food:

Individual or families in need may call (763) 533-2836 between 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. M-F for an appointment.

Food pickups are scheduled between 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (MTWF) and 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m on Thursdays.

A 2 to 3 day supply of food will be given once every 30 days, if necessary.


Referral:

For problems beyond the ability of NEAR volunteers to handle, referrals are made to the appropriate agency.


Holiday Baskets & School Supplies:

Thanksgiving and Christmas boxes of food are given.


Toys, caps and mittens are also given out on the second Saturday in December at a separate location. 

NEAR also provides school supplies for students as a part of a Back-To-School Program.
